Alabama Dance Theatre Presents: Cinderella and More

Montgomery, AL - The Alabama Dance Theatre, celebrating its 21st Encore season, will present its annual spring concert featuring the storybook classic “Cinderella” Part I on Friday, February 29th, Saturday March 1st, and Sunday, March 2nd at the Davis Theatre for the Performing Arts.

Choreographed by ADT’s own Sara Sanford, “Cinderella” is certain to delight all ages with its comedy, fantasy, and beauty. Set to Prokofiev’s breathtaking score; see the magic of true love come to life on stage.

The story begins with Cinderella, oppressed by her wicked Stepmother and her two Stepsisters. Cinderella never complains and suffers in silence. One day a great ball for the Prince is announced and all the young ladies of the kingdom are invited. The Stepmother and Stepsisters try to prevent Cinderella from going to the ball but through wonder and magic she appears at the ball with help from her Fairy Godmother. The Prince sees her and falls in love. Cinderella must leave before midnight or her gown will be reduced to rags. In her hurry to flee the ball she leaves behind a sparkling glass slipper. The prince retrieves it and vows to search the land until his princess is found.

Artistic Director Kitty Seale, along with Ballet Master Foye DuBose, and Resident Choreographer Sara Sanford will present new contemporary works.

ADT’s spring concert is sponsored by Regions Bank, the Aaron Aronov Family Foundation, Montgomery Advertiser, Hilton Garden Inn, and funded in part by the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
