The Alabama Dance Theatre, celebrating its 31st Season, will present its annual spring concert featuring “The Little Mermaid and More!” on Saturday, March 3rd and Sunday, March 4th at Troy University’s Davis Theatre for the Performing Arts.
Choreographed by ADT’s resident choreographer, Sara Sanford, “The Little Mermaid” is certain to delight children of all ages and the young at heart. This original production of the classic fairy-tale is based in Greek Mythology. The Little Mermaid dreams for a life above the waves. She is rebuked by her father and turns to the conniving sea witch who demands a heavy sacrifice. In return the Little Mermaid must exchange her beautiful voice for human legs with which she can fulfill her dreams.
This performance will also include a beautiful excerpt from the classical ballet, Coppélia and Artistic Director Kitty Seale’s delightful Invitation to the Dance in the Saturday evening and Sunday performances. Sara Sanford’s Stardust will also return to the stage in these performances.
This production is sponsored by Wind Creek Hospitality, Jim Wilson & Associates, Regions Bank, Owen and Loree Aronov, Pickwick Antiques, The Daniel Foundation, Montgomery Advertiser, Cumulus Broadcasting and is funded in part by the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
