Since its founding in 1986, The Alabama Dance Theatre has grown to become the premier pre-professional training studio in the River Region. Presenting a varied repertoire of classical ballet and contemporary works by noted choreographers and resident choreographers.
The annual Summer Dance Intensive will be located at the Armory Learning Arts Center, the home of the Alabama Dance Theatre. This program is a two-week intensive geared towards ages 10 and up with three separate training tracks. Dancers will have a ballet class in the morning followed by a specialty class. After lunch, dancers will participate in numerous rehearsals that will result in our annual Stars on the Riverfront performance at the picturesque Riverwalk Amphitheatre in downtown Montgomery.
Tuition is $425 with early registration before June 23. ($450 after) Dancers will need to bring their own lunches.
Dancers who are not students of the Alabama Dance Theatre should enclose a letter of recommendation from their teacher or director, a headshot, a first arabesque photo, and a short video of center work (maximum of five minutes).
Stars on the Riverfront

The Alabama Dance Theatre is delighted to return to full-scale performances when they present Stars on the Riverfront
at the Riverfront Amphitheatre on July 21 and 22.
Under the leadership of Artistic Director Kate Seale Smith, the ADT Company of pre-professional dancers studies ballet and other styles of dance year-round. Stars on the Riverfront is the culmination of ADT’s annual two-week dance intensive, Summer Seminar, which is held July 10 through 24th for dancers 10 and older. The performance will include "Etudes", a new classical work by Armando Luna, as well as new contemporary works by ADT resident choreographers.
Performances will take place on Sunday, July 21th, and Monday, July 22th at 7:30 pm. Gates open at 6 pm. These performances are free, family-friendly, and open to the public. Audiences may bring a picnic. Food trucks TBA
